  • Washing at a pressure suited to the surface — soft stone and old pointing get a gentler pass
  • Edges, steps and corners worked by hand where a wide pass would miss

What to expect

We tell you these before we start.

  • Rust marks, oil that has soaked in and old paint usually lighten rather than vanish
  • Loose pointing and failing sealant can come away under pressure — we show you the weak spots before we start
  • We need a working outdoor tap, and we check where the water will drain before we begin
  • In warm weather most surfaces are dry and usable again within a few hours

Why it is worth doing

Outdoor stone darkens slowly, so nobody notices until half the terrace is a different colour. Algae and moss also hold water, which is what makes steps and pool edges slippery.

How is pressure washing priced?

By area and surface. The rough size in square metres, what the surface is made of, your postcode and how long since it was last cleaned are enough for a written quote. Before you ask, the area and your postcode already give you an estimate on screen; the written quote that follows is the price.

Can pressure washing damage my terrace?

Used carelessly, yes — pressure can mark soft stone, lift paint and blow out old joints. That is why the surface is checked first and the pressure matched to it. Where a surface will not take it, we say so instead of trying.

Do you clean around swimming pools?

Yes. Coping and paving around the pool are cleaned with the run-off directed away from the water as far as the layout allows.
