Accessibility

Everybody should be able to read a price, book a clean and reach us, whatever device or assistance they use. This is how we build and check the site, and what to do if something gets in your way.

The standard we build to

We build this website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the international standard published by the W3C.

We aim for it on every page. Where we know we fall short, we say so below.

What we check

  • We check pages with an automated accessibility test (axe) at desktop and phone widths.
  • We check that the forms and the booking flow can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring that shows where you are.
  • Movement is small and quick, and it is switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Text and controls are set to meet the AA contrast ratios, and colour is never the only way something is shown: a status always comes with a word.
  • Form fields have real labels, and an error is named next to the field it belongs to.
  • Buttons and links on phones are at least 44 pixels tall, and pages are laid out for phones rather than shrunk from the desktop.

What we know is not perfect

  • Not every page of the site is in every language yet: a page that has not been translated opens in English. The legal documents, this statement included, are published in English, Spanish and German.
  • Automated tests find only some of the barriers people meet. We check the main paths by hand as well, but not yet with every combination of screen reader and browser.
  • While the robot check on our forms is switched on, it is provided by Cloudflare and runs in its own frame, which we do not control; Cloudflare states that it meets WCAG 2.2 AA.
