Campos is a flat, quiet farming town in the south, and its name reaches the sea at Sa Ràpita and Ses Covetes, at the western end of the long Es Trenc beach. Next along the coast are Colònia de Sant Jordi and the salt pans of Ses Salines.

Few parts of Mallorca are as open as this. The land behind Es Trenc is low and level, with the Salobrar de Campos salt marsh and working salt pans behind the dunes, and nothing stops the wind coming across them. Houses in Sa Ràpita and Ses Covetes pick up fine salt and blown sand on glass, doors and outdoor furniture all year, and frames need as much attention as panes. A clean holds better if you book it after a windy spell has passed, not before one.
