Plan round Thursday. The market runs from about eight in the morning until half past one and takes over a large part of the centre, and driving in gets difficult until the stalls are gone. On Dijous Bo, the great autumn fair held every November, the streets are busier still, with hundreds of stalls across dozens of streets. Any other weekday is much easier for a visit in the centre.

Homes here run from flats in the blocks around the station to terraced townhouses with a patio at the back and a door straight on to the pavement. Older townhouses often have a narrow stair, so say if a large piece of furniture is upstairs.

Outside the centre, around the industrial estates and the country lanes towards Selva, there is usually space to park on the road. Tell us if the only way in is a shared lane.
